Root Touch-Up & All-Over Hair Color

Regrowth is the most common reason people book a color appointment, and it's the easiest one to get wrong at home. Box color applied over previously colored lengths builds up, going progressively darker and flatter with every application until the ends look muddy and refuse to lift.

In the salon the root area and the lengths are treated as two different problems. Fresh color goes on the regrowth only; the mid-lengths and ends get a refresh or gloss at a lower developer, just enough to even out tone without adding another layer of pigment. That single distinction is why salon color keeps its depth over years of appointments and box color doesn't.

We use ammonia-light formulas throughout. They lift a little more gently, smell considerably better, and are noticeably kinder to the scalp — which matters when you're sitting in it every six weeks. For grey coverage we adjust the formula to the percentage of white hair rather than using a single blanket recipe, because resistant greys need a different approach than scattered ones.
